Early in the 2nd quarter of the Raiders game last Sunday I had enough. I have seen my share of pitiful Raiders performances in my time but this game reached a all time low. It was ugly and getting uglier by the minute. I was actually glad that the game was sold out so I could watch. Now I was only happy that I was not actually at the game.
Before turning off the TV and salvaging the rest of the afternoon, I flipped to a few other channels to see what else was on. First thing to catch my attention was ice skating. Not just regular ice skating but ice skating to the the live musical performance of Frankie Vali and the Four Seasons. It was kind of like dancing with the stars on ice. Not something I would normally watch but it was definitely more interesting than the Raiders game.
Continuing my channel surfing I came across what I thought was basketball, but I did not recognize the team and the court was odd looking. Turns out it is Slamball, a variation of basketball. In just a few minutes I was hooked. Slamball is basket played on a smaller court with only 4 players. There are areas of the court which have a trampoline area which gives your extra hops. The other main difference is that there are no fouls. You can grab and tackle the opposing players. In short slamball is combination of basketball, wrestling, slam dunk contest, and American Gladiator. See for yourself here. Raiders football has not been as entertaining for a long time.
Hey thanks for the good review. We all apreciate the support of the fans. It was my rookie year this year and being part of the slashers helped me bring home a championship. Slamball is an amazing new sport and if you liked it on TV wait till you get a chance to see it in person.
Nice. SlamBall was pretty cool.
I was pulling for the RUmble, but the Slashers won it.
Rumble all the way next year.
Hey man. I’m glad you enjoyed watching Slamball. I honestly believe it’s the greatest sport in the world. I think people are getting a little sick of most pro sports swaying more towards money than the actual sport. The sport needs fans like you and I’m glad that it caught your eye as you were channel surfing.
I was a rookie on the Mob this year and played limited minutes. My favorite aspect of this sport is that the players are all down to earth guys that work normal jobs in the off-season. We’re 100 times more like our fans than any other sport. Thanks for watching and sharing your views!
