Thanks Sharks For A Great Season

I’m tired and disappointed this morning after watching the Sharks game last night. The game was a classic playoff game as it went to 4 overtimes and lasted nearly 6 hours. The Sharks were attempting to become the first team in 33 years to come back from a 3-0 defecit to win a playoff series. After a thrilling game 5 victory I thought the Sharks had a good chance to make history but they came up just short. However you still have to applaud the great effort.
I had dinner at my in-laws last night and started watching the Sharks game at 6. My son has also become a big hockey fan and we were cheering on the Sharks hoping for a game 7. We were hoping the Sharks would end it soon but the goalies were outstanding denying every scoring chance. Finally after the 3rd overtime and nearly 10 o’clock we had to go home as it was a school night. After quickly putting the kids to bed I watched overtime number 4.
It had been a very physical game but by overtime # 4, it looked like the players were in slow motion. There was a lot less hard hitting and more sloppy passing. I was exhausted not because I was up late but it was mentally tiring trying to cheer on the Sharks to victory. I could only imagine the physical and mental state of the players. Finally the Stars won it on a power play goal halfway into the 4th overtime. What a disappointment after putting nearly 6 hours into this only to have it taken away.
The Sharks did not force a game 7 but did play over 2 games last night. Despite the disappointing ending it was a good and exciting year for the Sharks. I just wished they did not put themselves in such a big hole in the series. Hopefully they can get over the hump and into the Stanley Cup finals next year.
If it’s any consolation, the Red Wings will sweep Dallas :P.
