Life Lessons From the Pedometer

Week 2 of the Walking Challenge has put me in a tight race. I stepped up the pace, but so did everyone else. I am now in 3rd place trailing my sister and just ahead of my mother in law. The updated results are here. This week has been a struggle for me due to a few rainy days, and a busy weekend. I will have to hustle to even meet last week’s steps.
The pedometer is how we measure our steps for this contest. It uses our walking stride, and counts each of our step. The pedometer records our steps for the entire day, and at midnight resets again to 0. Being in a contest has really motivated me to walk, and I think it has for others as well. Without being in a contest, I don’t think I would be out in my neighborhood at 10 at night trying to get in some more steps. I have also be known to take a few laps around the house at 11:30 at night to get a few more steps, or to go over a milestone. It is always better to me to have 12,100 steps rather than say 11,900. However, I can squeeze only so many steps out in a day, and at midnight the pedometer resets to 0. And I have to start all over again. What life lessons can we take from this?
- Live each day to the fullest. Get the most out of yourself each day.
- Once the day is over, its over, and you have to prove yourself again. Don’t dwell on the past, and don’t rest on your past achievements.
