At the Rawhide Ranch

After lounging at the pool most of the day, we ventured to a western town called Rawhide in Phoenix. Rawhide is a western frontier town with shows and activities for the entire family. It opens at 5 in the evening because its just too hot to be out before 5. However, I was told that the hottest time of the day is around 5 o’clock. It felt like the hottest time of the day. So, the first activity was to get inside and have dinner, not only to escape the heat, but because the kids eat free before 6:00. It was a steakhouse, and the food was not bad. On the menu was an $18 Kobe steak burger which my mother in law had. I tried it, and it was not bad, but at $18 for a burger, I expected more.
After dinner, the weather cooled to a more comfortable level, but was still probably about 90+ degrees. We started down the main street, and the kids enjoyed the activities such as riding a pony, train rides, and panning for gold(gold colored rocks). I even got to try riding a mechanical bull. At my age, I was hesitant to get on this machine, but I paid for a pass that included all the shows and activities, so I decided “What the heck”. Here is my second attempt of three on the bull. It looks slow, but feels a lot faster when you are on it. I think a few more tries at this, and I will have it mastered, but decided not to press my luck. I think my kids enjoyed seeing me fall off more than anything.
