Simple Pleasures

Last Friday was a warm, sunny day of about seventy five degrees with a cool breeze. It was a great day to be outside, and I was lucky enough not to have to spend it in an office or a cubicle buried in paper. I spent it in my backyard with my kids playing with bubbles. After about an hour of playing with bubbles, we all retired for our afternoon naps. It was a good afternoon of living the dream.
As I enjoyed the time with my kids, it occurred to me that some of the simple pleasures in life are often the best. It also occurred to me that these simple pleasures are very inexpensive, and sometimes free. On this sunny afternoon, God provided the sunshine. For $2, we got a 128 oz container of bubbles. That container of bubbles has bought many, many hours of laughter and fun for my kids. This blog usually covers real estate investing, and personal finance, areas that I am passionate about, but we can become so consumed with our finances and planning for the future that we miss some simple pleasures in each day. I know I have been guilty of that.
Certainly, it is good to plan for the future, but maybe if we take more time to enjoy the inexpensive simple pleasures in life, we will find we many not need nearly as much to make us happy.
